After eight days had passed, it was time to circumcise the child; and he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
(Matthew 1.21
NRSV)
After Christmas Lucy mutters, "Rats! Phooey! Everything is hopeless! Who cares?" Charlie Brown asks, "Lucy, what in the world is the matter with you?" Again she shouts, "Rats! Phooey!" The last cartoon shows her walking away only to turn and drop a casual comment to the puzzled Charlie Brown. "Of course you realize," she says, "that I'm just experiencing my regular, postChristmas letdown."
Most of us are a bit sad to see Christmas pass. I hope this was a great Christmas at your house. May the meaning of this season last all year long for you.
Loving God, help me to keep the message of Christmas alive all year long. Amen.
