He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. 25For you were going astray like sheep, but now you have returned to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.
(1 Peter 2.24-25 NRSV)

Have you ever been accused of being a little absent-minded? Some of us have. We can take comfort in the fact that somewhere in Norway there is a young man named Jermund Skogstad who is worse off than we.

Jermund moved from the country to the city and rented an apartment. Thirty minutes after moving into his apartment, he stepped out for a bite to eat. By the time he found a caf‚, he was hopelessly lost and had no idea how to get home. Further, he had forgotten the address of his new apartment. Fortunately, he had written the address on a card in his wallet. Unfortunately, his wallet was left behind in the apartment.

The last I read, Jermund had been searching for his apartment for a month. He still hadn't found his way home.

That must be a terrible feeling--to lose your way home. That may be you. Jesus can help you find your way back home to God.

Dear God, find me and help me to find my way back to you. Amen.
