For God is not unjust; he will not overlook your work and the love that you showed for his sake in serving the saints, as you still do.
(Hebrews 6.10 NRSV)

The magazine NATION'S BUSINESS did a survey asking its readers to select the ten top business people America produced in its first 200 years. The survey respondents nominated people such as Edison, Bell, and Ford. Each of the top ten was responsible for the livelihood of tens of thousands of workers. Each was involved with raising and spending billions of dollars. And each was engaged in highly competitive industries, often cited in health magazines as a cause of early death.

What was the average age of death for these enormous achievers? Eighty-seven! The healthiest people around are those people who enjoy their work.

One summer evening, when Thomas Edison returned home from work, his wife said, "You've worked too long without a rest. You must take a vacation." "But where will I go?" he asked. "Decide where you'd rather be than anywhere else on earth and go there," was the answer. "Very well," promised Mr. Edison, "I will go tomorrow." The next morning Edison returned to his laboratory. Some people feel that way about their work. They are not workaholics. They are not there because they are driven. They actually enjoy their work more than anything else.

Are you using your God given talents with joy?

Dear Jesus, thank you for the work you have given to me. Help me to use my gifts and talents for your glory. Amen.
