And he said to them, "Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.
(Mark 16.15 NRSV)

Some of us have had some difficult blows in our life. We're like the farmer who had a fine ewe which gave birth to two lambs. When one lamb died the farmer remarked, "Well, I'd rather have one fat lamb than two skinny ones." Still later, the other lamb died, and he reflected, "Well, it's all for the best. Now the ewe won't be bothered with them." A week later, when the ewe died, the farmer was still philosophical. "Well, it's all for the best," said he, "but I'll be darned if I can figure it out."

We can sympathize. The ways of God are not our ways. Still we trust in God's divine care. God is in control of God's creation. Of that we can be sure.

Dear God, thank you for watching out for me and the rest of your creation. Amen.
