He called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them
authority over the unclean spirits. So they went out and proclaimed that all should repent.
The disciples of Jesus had aprons on. They were the ones who were charged with the
responsibility of telling others the good news of Christ.
May we also put on aprons on. There are many people all around us who need us to tell them
about the love and salvation they can find in Jesus Christ.
(Mark 6.7, 12
NRSV)
A pastor was talking with a man who was about to join his church. The man said, "I want to join
the church because I want to be fed." The pastor replied, "Well, that's fine, but we all would be
better off if you would take off your bib and put on an apron!" Obviously this pastor was getting
frustrated in having members content with sitting and being taken care of.
Lord Jesus, as I put my apron on, teach me to serve with joy. Amen.
