May mercy, peace, and love be yours in abundance.
As you work, look around and see if most of the people you see have a peaceful expression on
their face. My experience is that few persons in our modern world wear a peaceful expression.
Wear a face of peaceful expression. Share God's love. Allow the spirit of Christ to shine through
you. One by one we can change our world into God's heavenly kingdom.
(Jude 1.2
NRSV)
In his book, THE NEW ART OF LIVING, Norman Vincent Peale gives us an interesting picture of
our modern situation. He tells about a man in London years ago who had regained his sight after
having been blind since two years of age. He could not remember his perceptions from his infant
years, of course, but he had certain images in his mind about how people looked. For example,
he imagined most people to be tall and slender. The few overweight people he envisioned
looking like bottles. But the most startling image that he kept in his mind was that all human
faces look peaceful.
Dear God, please keep my heart close to you, as I let go of my worries. Amen.
