Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer.
(Romans 12.12 NRSV)

Many of you know that some of the fastest growing churches in the world are in South Korea. Richard Wilke in his study of churches tried to interrogate a Korean pastor about the marvelous growth of the Christian churches in Korea. He asked about class meetings, the biblical teaching, the establishment of fledgling congregations. The Korean pastor finally replied in frustration, throwing up his hands and saying, "You American are all alike; you want to know about our programs, you never ask about our prayers."

Prayer is the indispensable element of a church or Christian on fire. Prayer not only opens up the storehouses of heaven, it also causes us to take to heart the causes for which we pray.

Dear Jesus, may I use the power of prayer to fill my heart and my actions more full of your presence. Amen.
