I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present
your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do
not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you
may discern what is the will of God what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Sometimes that happens to us in our spiritual journey. We make poor choices and we end up
spiritually lost. If you are spiritually lost, Christ awaits with open arms of love to help you find your
way back. The church is also there for you with open arms to show you the way back to spiritual
maturity and health. Will you make a good choice today to do the right thing for your spiritual well
being?
(Romans
12.1-2
NRSV)
I read with great laughter a story that appeared in the New Yorker Magazine a few years ago
concerning a 61-year-old Massachusetts grandmother who took some wrong turns and made
some poor choices as to which roads to take with her school bus on the first day of her new job
as a driver. She got so lost that she wound up in the state of Connecticut. Because she had
already picked up ten kids on her route, an all-points bulletin was issued for her on charges of
kidnaping and, since she had crossed the state line, the F.B.I. was called in. After finally locating
the lady and interrogating her, though, the police and F.B.I. agents concluded that she had made
some wrong turns and simply lost her way.
Dear Jesus, yes, I will. Amen.
