If you do not stand firm in faith, you shall not stand at all.
Someone has said that facing the facts is one of the worst mistakes we can make or allow
other people to make. In tough situations, we should not face the facts; we should face the
faith. Every significant instance of progress in the history of the world and the history of
Christianity occurred because someone had the courage to refuse to face the facts.
We face faith. We look to Jesus.
(Isaiah 7.9
NRSV)
An old cliche that people often share with each other in times when they face impossible
situations is: "Let's face the facts." Then, they add something like; "We just can't afford
it!" Or, "We can't possible succeed at that." Or "There is no way I can go on."
Lord Jesus, continue to guide me as I grow in my faith. Amen.
