You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD! He is their help and their shield.
So it is with those who have the might and power of the Kingdom of God behind them. They
cannot be defeated, not because of who they are, but because of Who He is. He knows our
needs and is able to meet those needs if we trust Him.
(Psalm 115.11
NRSV)
Maxwell Anderson, in his play CANDLE IN THE WIND, tells the story of a young American girl
who is caught up in a struggle against the ruthless Nazi rulers of occupied Paris. She was only
a young girl. He called her a "candle in the wind." But the feeling that she was an American
citizen sustained and strengthened her. She felt that behind her was the might and power of
her beloved nation and that her cause was one of just and right.
Dear Jesus, help me to trust in you, especially when the doubts of life flood my mind. Amen.
