"So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own.
Today's trouble is enough for today.
I know it is not easy to "turn the switch off." But, Jesus told us not to worry. It's not healthy, and
it is a waste of time. We Christians have a lot more important things to do!
(Matthew 6.34
NRSV)
Some people are worriers. Have you ever noticed that? It's like the patient in the mental
hospital. He was holding his ear close to a wall, listening intently. This went on for some time
before an attendant finally came up and asked him what he was doing. "Sh!" whispered the
patient, motioning him over to listen as well. The attendant pressed his ear to the wall and
listened carefully. "I can't hear a thing," he finally said. "That's right," replied the patient with a
troubled look on his face. "It's been like that all day!"
Dear Jesus, teach me not to worry, as I spend more time on the things that really matter.
Amen.
