For if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how can he
take care of God's church?
All of us have a stake in seeing that our church and all churches that are seeking to faithfully
carry on the work of Christ have the resources to fulfill their function. That is why we commit
our prayers and our presence, our gifts and our service. We are carrying on what Christ
initiated and the Holy Spirit confirmed within the body of Christ.

The king of a European country once went out alone on horseback. A visitor to the country
was surprised to see the king unattended. He asked one of the citizens if the king didn't have a
bodyguard. The citizen thought for a moment and then replied
with pride, "We are ALL his bodyguard!"
Lord Jesus, guide me in my commitment to your church, because it is your church that brings
me your unconditional love and welcomes me into eternal life. Amen.
