Daily Devotions - A Few Moments With
God
Saturday, February 2, 2002

If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you.
(James 1.5 NRSV)

This is the testimony of former major league baseball player Dave Dravecky, who is coping with the loss of his pitching arm to cancer. He could be finished psychologically and physically dealing with such a devastating burden, but into the scene stepped Jesus. Dravecky puts it this way, "I am not getting through the loss of my arm because I am a great coper. I'm getting through it because I have a Father in heaven who is a great giver."

We all face challenges, dark moments and unforgiving failures. However, God's gives us so much that it makes up for all of our loses.

Dear God, thank you for reminding me of your gifts which lead me to center my life in you. Amen.
