I desire that you insist on these things, so that those who have come to believe in
God may be careful to devote themselves to good works; these things are excellent and
profitable to everyone.
(Titus 3.8
NRSV)
Albert Schweitzer was once asked to name the greatest person in the world. The good doctor
replied, "The greatest person in the world is some unknown individual in some obscure corner
of the earth who at this very hour has gone in love to be with another person in need." That's
the first thing St. Paul says to us. The only excellence is excellence in love.
God of love, may my day be filled with sharing your excellent love. Amen.
