I treasure your word in my heart, so that I may not sin against you.
May our new year be full of wise and Godly choices.
(Psalm 119.11
NRSV)
A country boy was invited to a fancy dinner. He was surrounded at the table by
well-mannered aristocrats. In the course of the meal he got a large hot piece of potato
in his mouth. He spit it out in the palm of his hand and put it on his plate. This shocked
all that genteel company. They cleared their throats and tried to divert their eyes, but
he looked right at them and said, "You know, a fool would have swallowed that." Well, a
lot of people are swallowing foolish things today. It is amazing sometimes how gullible
people can be.
God of all time, as I begin a new year, help me to make wise choices based upon Your
word. Amen.
