And we urge you, beloved, to admonish the idlers, encourage the
fainthearted, help
the weak, be patient with all of them.
Sometimes that is the way our life goes. We are able to give one point and Christ
makes the rest.
We lean on Christ. And because we have found encouragement in Christ, we ought to
be
encouragers.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, "Therefore encourage one another and build up each
other, as indeed
you are doing."
(1 Thessalonians 5:14
NRSV)
In one game that matchless former superstar of the Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan,
scored 69
points. One of his teammates was interviewed on television not too long after that
game. The
teammate was asked about his most memorable experiences. He said, "I'll never forget
the night
Michael and I score 70 points...."
Lord Jesus, as you have been my encourager, may I also be an encourager for all of
your people.
Amen.
