Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with
whatever
gift each of you has received.
What really matters in life is our commitment to God, as we share his blessings through
our
service.
(1 Peter 4:10
NRSV)
Albert Schweitzer spoke to a graduating class in an English boys' school back in 1935.
He
said: "I do not know what your destiny will be. Some of you will perhaps occupy
remarkable
positions. Perhaps some of you will become famous by your pens, or as artists. But I
know one
thing: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought
and found
how to serve." Those words are true. Mark them down. The unhappiness in our lives
does not
come from anything except our lack of Christian service.
Dear Jesus, you have served humanly by dying for our sins. Move me to serve often
and well.
Amen.
