"Strive to enter through the narrow door."
In business there are numerous narrow doors. Honesty. Dependability. Hard work. We
know that
eventually there is a pay-off behind each one.
Narrow doors--limitless horizons. Jesus said, "Strive to enter by the narrow door; for
many, I tell
you, will seek to enter and will not be able."
Jesus was talking about a very specific door, of course--the door of the Kingdom.
(Luke 13:24
NRSV)
There are many narrow doors. Marriage is one of those doors. We start off thinking
variety is the
spice of life. And when we are young and courting that is the way it ought to be. But
there comes
a time in our life when we narrow our choices to one special person, because we know
that in a
good marriage, there is a growing happiness, contentment, compatibility.
Dear God, help me to find the great rewards from going through your narrow door.
Amen.
