It is not right to be partial to the guilty, or to subvert the innocent in judgment.
(Proverbs 18:5 NRSV)

Albert Einstein is said to have begun speaking late in childhood. In a story which admittedly sounds apocryphal, young Einstein uttered his first sentence while sipping from a bowl of soup. He tasted it and then said to his parents, "The soup is too hot." Naturally they were elated but still they asked him, "Why did you wait so long to speak?" Einstein replied, "Because, up to now, everything was in order."

As Christians who have been given a vision of what our world should be, we cannot remain silent. Not everything is in order. The innocent need our support, our prayers and our action. Take a stand against injustice.

Dear God, help me to identify with the innocent. Amen.
