While they were eating, Jesus took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it,
gave it to the disciples, and said, "Take, eat; this is my body."
Fellowship is at the heart of the body of Christ. We are not "Lone Ranger" Christians. The
communion table forever is our reminder of that.
(Matthew 26:26
NRSV)
Hearts have been touched for 2,000 years when persons have taken the bread and the cup and
heard those timeless words, "This is my body which was broken for you. This is my blood which
was shed for you." Part of the power of that sacrament is that we experience it together. We are
Christ's family and we feel that in a most beautiful way when symbolically we are gathered around
his table.
Dear God, bring me closer to your community of faith, hope and love. Amen.
