Each of you, however, should love his wife as himself, and a wife should respect her
husband.
A great marriage must also include taking time away to build our relationship with our partner.
This may be as simple as going for a walk together or sitting on the porch swing together. It may
mean getting a baby sitter and going out to dinner. Michele and I have designated Tuesday night
as our date night. We simply try to do something together.
The time you spend together is very important.

When we read the stories about Jesus, we will read about many situations where Jesus takes time
away from people to pray and build his relationship with God. Jesus also took time away to build
his relationship with his disciples.
Dear God, thank you for the wonderful spouse you have given to me. Guide us in strengthening
that love. Amen.
