Jesus said, "Let it be so now; for it is proper for us in this way to fulfill all
righteousness."
How can you be more obedient to God through your baptism?
(Matthew 3:15
NRSV)
People who traveled out into the wilderness to hear John the Baptist were so caught up in John's
message that they were baptized. Jesus also went to hear John. Jesus was different, though. He
wasn't caught up in John's fiery preaching. He went to hear John for the sole purpose of being
baptized. For Jesus baptism was an act of obedience to God. Obedience to God is central to
baptism. Obedience is also central to God's will for our lives.
Dear God, show me the way to a fuller obedience to your holy presence in my life. Amen.
