He will send them a savior, and will defend and deliver them.
Customs are also backwards. When Jason had his birthday, his grandparents came to celebrate the
birthday. But they didn't go to his house. They went to another house down the street. The
mother baked a birthday cake, but she then gave it to the mailman. All of Jason's friends
exchanged gifts with each other, and he received nothing. Everybody in town received birthday
cards, but Jason received none.
Needless to say, Jason became disturbed. So he borrowed a megaphone and rode on his bicycle
through the neighborhood shouting, "Whose birthday is it, anyway?"
That's a good question, "Whose birthday is it, anyway?" We are preparing for Jesus' birthday.
Let's honor him!
(Isaiah 19:20
NRSV)
I read once about a place where everything is done backwards. Instead of playing football, the
kids play kneeball. The children do not go to school, the teachers go to their homes. Leaves even
grow on trees in the winter.
Dear God, remove the distractions as I keep my focus on the greatest gift ever. Amen.
