It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all
the seeds on earth; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and
puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade."
It reminds us that God can use little things to achieve great things.
(Mark 4:31-32
NRSV)
Jesus said in verse 31, "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and
sowed in the field." From one of the tiniest seeds comes a shrub which grows eight to ten feet tall.
The shrub is so large and full that the "birds of the air come and make nests in its branches."
Whoever would have thought that such a tiny seed could produce such a large shrub?
Dear God, through your power help me to achieve great things in the name of Jesus my savior.
Amen.
