Jesus said, "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the
sheep."
God is the shepherd that really cares about us even more than our parents do. Now, I realize you
may feel like I did about my parents when I was a teenager. I felt they were more interested in
enforcing their petty rules than loving me, so I could be free to live and learn about life for myself.
For most of us, our parents do care about us, but God loves us even more and unconditionally.
This is why God has come to us as a savior. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that he
gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life."
If we deny our desires and accept Christ, then we can fully experience God's love and forgiveness
in our own lives.
(John 10:11
NRSV)
If we deny ourselves, our desires, then Christ will guide us to a new way of living and loving for
one another.
Dear God, I can be unlovable at times, but I am very thankful of your unconditional love. Amen.
