The desire of the righteous ends only in good; the expectation of the wicked in
wrath.
Our most unique quality is the way God loves us. You all have heard it said before that God loves
everyone, no matter who we are or what we have done. I first began to understand God's love for
me when I was a freshman in high school. My home church had a special weekend program where
I met Carolyn Jennings. Carolyn was an attractive young girl, and she accepted me for who I was.
And through her. God's love became real for me.
My life has never been the same since I met Carolyn. I experienced God's love, grace, and
forgiveness through her. I then made a commitment to Christ by dying to my own desires. This
experience that I had as a freshman in high school was the first step for me to be open to God's
desire that I become a minister. John 12:24 says, "...unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and
dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit." You see, we have to die to
our desires like a single grain, before we can take on God's desire for our lives.

Our fingerprints are different. We all look different. I even have a birth mark on right leg near my
knee that looks like a car. I haven't met anyone yet that has a birth mark on them that looks like a
car. Even our personalities and the way we think are different from one another. That is the way
God has created us--different from one another.
Loving God, may I die to my own desires, so that I can take on yours. Amen.
