When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the
house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among
them and said, "Peace be with you."
I doubt that the person who put up that sign meant that visiting their
church was like visiting Satan's domain.
Church isn't a bad place to be for most of us. In fact, some people actually like church. Art Greer,
a writer and preacher, claims he knows why. "It's because," says Art, "it's the one place bad things
can't happen to them for one hour in the week. The toilet doesn't get stopped up, the sink doesn't
run over, the phone won't ring, and the school principal can't call to say, I've got your son or
daughter here in the office.' No downers can happen in church. The only price you pay for that
hour of bliss is the possibility of being bored by the preacher." And God forgive us boring
preachers!
Make plans to be in church this Sunday!

NRSV)
Someone spotted this sign outside a church: SEVEN SPRINGS CHRISTIAN CHURCH
