May I never boast of anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(Galatians 6:14 NRSV)

A Denver woman told her pastor of a recent experience that she felt was indicative of the times in which we live. She was in a jewelry store looking for a necklace and said to the clerk, "I'd like a gold cross." The man behind the counter looked over the stock in the display case and said, "Do you want a plain one, or one with a little man on it?" If that doesn't make you laugh, it will make you cry. Bearing a cross is not the same as wearing a cross.

He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

Will you allow the cross of Jesus Christ to empower your connection to God and God's people?

Lord Jesus, may I feel a touch of your power as I work to touch people's lives with God's love. Amen.
