But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become
children of God
That happens to people, doesn't it? The world as they know it suddenly disappears. I think of a
widow whose husband has recently died. She has never worked outside the home. He has always
managed their financial affairs. But he did not manage them very well. In addition to the grief she
is trying valiantly to deal with, she is going to have to go to work for the first time in a world for
which she is unprepared.
Life does that to us sometimes. Then God will take those moments and renew the child God
created us to be.

Noah, he had been cooped up on board an ark for 40 days and 40 nights with every imaginable
animal on earth as well as his own family. His neighbors were gone. The world as he had known it
had disappeared. He was having to start over.
Dear God, take my unsettled moments and rebuild me. Amen.
