"Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ so that your
sins may be forgiven; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
When I read that article my reaction was, HE DID WHAT? But, then sometimes I have to say, "I
DID WHAT?" We all do dumb things, and Peter says to us, "Repent, and be baptized every one
of you in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven."
(Acts 2:38
NRSV)
Every once in a while you run across a newspaper story that makes you think that the whole
world is going bonkers. Here is one from a paper in Kentucky: A youth pastor was charged with
calling in a bomb threat to a Western Kentucky church where he was scheduled to preach that
night. The young pastor said he made the call on a Sunday evening because he was unprepared for
the service that night. He told police he called 911 from the church about 6:30 p.m. and told the
dispatcher there was a bomb in the church. "When questioned, he was cooperative and told us he
made the call," State Trooper Larry Abel said. The church was evacuated after the call, and a
police search revealed no bomb. By the way, the 7 p.m. service was canceled.
Dear Jesus, remind me to repent and seek your love and wholeness. Amen.
