For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is also dead.
You and I may believe this and that about God's word and about life in general, but these three
statements are incontrovertible! They are true. They don't need to be defended; they only need to
be lived. There are people in our world who spend too much of their energy and time defending
God's word instead of living it.
(James 2:26
NRSV)
What is the Gospel--the Good News--anyway? I believe it can be summed up in three verses: "In
the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1); "God so loved the world that
he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have
everlasting life" (John 3:16), and "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your
soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, Love your neighbor as yourself"
(Luke 10:27).
Dear God, I have certainly failed to live your word faithfully. May my day be an example of your
will. Amen.
