Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.
Many of us fall into similar situations when we hold on to worries, problems, and things that are
unhealthy. Letting go and trusting God is not always easy, but it is a matter of spiritual life or
death.
Learning to let go and trust God is a life long process, but Jesus is our reminder of God's love. It
is a love that we can trust. May we do a lot of letting go, as we truly trust God.
(Proverbs 3:5
NRSV)
I heard a story about a speaker who used a personal experience to call his audience to trust God.
He told how, when fly-fishing a mountain stream, he lost his footing. The stream swept him under
a logjam, leaving him panting for air as he clutched the timbers above him. He was suddenly faced
with a life-and-death decision. He had to either let go of the logjam and trust himself to the
powerful stream or try to hold on until his strength was gone.
Dear God, learning to trust is a lifelong apprenticeship. Help me to grow in my trust of you today.
Amen.
