"If you had faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you."
(Luke 17:6 NRSV)

One of the great miracles in the world is how a tiny seed can be sown in the ground and can grow into a beautiful plant, a nourishing vegetable, or a gigantic tree. If you have ever seen one of the giant redwoods out in California, you know how great a tree can grow from a tiny seed. How large is a redwood? If 20 children held their hands in a circle, they could reach all the way around a redwood.

Jesus talked about having the faith of a mustard seed. A mustard seed is a very tiny seed that also produces a large tree. Jesus was trying to tell people that just believing in God a little bit--really believing Him and putting Him in charge of our lives--would cause them to see miracles in their lives.

People who believe in God have changed the world, and so can you. If only you have the faith of a tiny seed.

Loving God, help me to take the faith I have and use it to change this world by filling it with love. Amen.
