But a Samaritan while traveling came near him; and when he saw him, he was
moved with pity.
Our Bible story today is about one man helping another man. A Jewish man had been
beaten up and robbed. He was hurt very badly, and he needed help. Some people passed by, but
the didn't stop to help him. Then, a Samaritan man came by. Now, the Jewish people hated the
Samaritan people. They were enemies. But the Samaritan man stopped anyway and helped the
Jewish man. He took him to an inn, where the Jewish man could rest. The Samaritan man saved
the Jewish man's life. And he did this, even though he knew that the Jewish man probably hated
him. That's what love is all about. Helping people who need our help. Loving people who need
our love. Even if those people who don't like us.

Do you like to eat corn? I do. Do you know where we originally got corn? From the Native
Americans. When people first came to America, they had trouble getting their crops to grow.
They would have starved to death, but the Native Americans helped them out. The Native
Americans knew how to grow all kinds of food, and they helped the new people learn how to
farm the land.
God of peace, forgive our treated those we don't like, especially our past sins
with the Native Americans. Amen.
