Therefore the law was our disciplinarian until Christ came, so that we might be
justified by faith.
Now, we all know that real bears are very different from teddy bears. Grizzly bears can grow to
be 8 feet tall and weigh more than five hundred pounds. That's huge. But a baby
grizzly bear only weighs about one pound when it's born, and it's only about eight inches long.
That's smaller than any of you when you were born! A baby grizzly is very helpless, and its mama
has to teach it everything. But once the mother bear has taught the little bear all these important
things, it's time for the little bear to go off on its own.
But if the little bear doesn't want to leave, the mama bear acts really mean and chase it away. At
one time, the baby bear needed to live under its mama's rules, but now the baby bear needs to live
free.
At one time people used to have many rules for pleasing God. But when Jesus died for our sins,
Jesus fulfilled those rules. Now, the way to please God is to believe in Jesus.
Do you please God by rules or by faith?

(Galatians 3:24
NRSV)
Do any of you have a teddy bear? I have dozens of bears people have given me over the years. It
gives Mr. & Mrs. Hershey Bear some company. They are two very friendly bears I use during my
children's time.
Loving God, help me to do a better job of living by faith. Amen.
