Those who withhold kindness from a friend forsake the fear of the Almighty.
(Job 6:14 NRSV)

When Henry James, the great American novelist, was saying good-by to his young nephew, Billy, son of his brother William, he said something the boy never forgot. It was simply this: "Willie, there are three things that are important in human life. The first is to be kind. The second is to be kind. The third is to be kind."

God calls us to show kindness. "As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience," Colossians 3:12. Our kindness should be a mirror of the kindness that God has shown to us through Jesus Christ.

Lord Jesus, thank you for the kindness you showed to me by dying on the cross for my sins. May I share freely that kindness. Amen.
