I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus.
That's true in every area of endeavor, isn't it? How does an athlete advance? He--or she--thinks
winning thoughts. Then that athlete follows the steps he or she must take to accomplish that goal.
Remember that Jesus was a winner, and so are you!
Ronald Newhouse, Texas, USA
(Philippians 3:14
NRSV)
There is an autobiography titled IN PRAISE OF IMPERFECTION: MY LIFE AND WORK. It
is written by a woman named Rita Levi Montacini, an Italian scientist. By looking back over her
life as a scientist, she is convinced that in research, neither intelligence nor efficiency are what
really count. What counts, she says, is a tendency to underestimate difficulties. When you
underestimate difficulties, she contends, you are more apt to tackle problems other, more
reasonable, persons say can't be solved.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, remind me often today that I am a winner. Then help me to take
those important steps that will take me to my goal. Amen.
