Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have
been borne by me from your birth, carried from the womb; even to your old age I am he, even
when you turn gray I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.
(Isaiah 46:3-4
NRSV)
"Grow old along with me!
By Robert Browning
"My days are in the yellow leaf;
These two writers certainly represent the predominant ways of approaching the fact that every
day in every way we are growing older. There are only three experiences that are shared by every
human being on the face of this earth: birth, aging and death. These are universal experiences
that we all have in common. It would be impossible to write a devotion that would prepare us for
our birth, and on a number of occasions I have written about how to handle our death. So, today I
ask how are you ageing?

DO WRINKLES HURT?"
The best is yet to be,
The last of life,
For which the first was made;
Our times are in His hand
Who saith,`A whole I planned,
Youth show but half; trust God:
See all nor be afraid!'"
The flowers and fruits of love are gone;
The worm, the canker, and the grief,
Are mine alone!"
By Lord Byron
Prayer: God of peace, help me age with your love and grace. Amen.
