But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy
Spirit. (Jude 1:20
NRSV)
The same thing can happen to us if we are not closely connected to the one who gives us life and
all of its abundance. Just like a race car cannot win a race with out fuel, we cannot succeed
spiritually with out God being a part of lives everyday.
What do you need to do to be more connected to God?
Ronald Newhouse, Texas, USA
Growing up in Indiana and attending college in Indianapolis, I became a great fan of the
Indianapolis 500. I have fond memories of listening to the race on the radio as a child. I have
never been to a race, but I have been to the track several times including a visit during a practice
time. This past Sunday the 83rd running of the Indianapolis 500 took place. On the second to the
last lap the driver who was leading the race ran out of fuel and lost the greatest race in all of
motor sports. Can you imagine the pain the driver felt after coming so close to win such a great
race?
Prayer: God of grace, remind me often to invite you to be an important part of my daily
journey. Amen.
