Let marriage be held in honor by all. (Hebrews 13:4
NRSV)
When marriage has a sacramental quality, it enriches our lives with God's grace everyday. Of
course, some days are more full of grace than others. Yet for me, one of the greatest gifts God
has given me is my wife Michele. God was an important part of our wedding that blended two
families with very different Christian traditions. Yet after our wedding was over, my wife's
grandfather, a faithful member of the Catholic church who had certainly seen hundreds of
weddings with his large family, said to us, "That was the most beautiful and most holy wedding I
have ever been to." God's grace has abounded in our marriage everyday since our wedding.
Genesis 2:24 says to us, "Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his wife,
and they become one flesh."
Let me also say that singleness, according to scripture, is a worthy lifestyle. Please read 1
Corinthians 7:32-38 for more information.

There is a story about a new bride who was a bit embarrassed, so when she and her husband
pulled up to the hotel, she asked him if they could make it appear that they had been married a
long time. He said, "Sure. You carry the suitcases!" Marriage can be a worldly arrangement and
remain very mundane.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, bless and keep strong all marriages. Amen.
