When I did a research project in Israel during college, one of the places I visited
was the wailing wall. The wailing wall is the closest you can get to the place where
the old Temple used to be. The story is told that people at the wailing wall would
start praying at one end of the wailing wall and make their way to where the Holy of
Holies in the Temple used to be. And when the people would pray at the wailing
wall their confession of sins would not bother them too much, but the closer they got
to the Holy of Holies the more aware of their sins they became and they would
weep.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, live more closely in my today, so that I will become more holy.
Amen.
