The neighbors and those who had seen [the blind man] before as a beggar began to
ask, "Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?"

The Pharisees questioned the man who was born blind. Again the man told the story of how
he was given eyesight. The Pharisees asked him, "What do you say about him?" The man with
the new sight answered, "He is a prophet." It is not surprising that the Pharisees did not believe
the man's story because they too were blind--blind to who Jesus was.
Do we allow Jesus to help us see more clearly each day?

The blind man that Jesus healed was filled with great joy. What the man did not realize was that
since he received his eyesight he was changed. In fact some in his neighborhood did not even
recognize him. "Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?" they asked. Some said it was while
others said it wasn't the same person. The man born blind kept saying, "I am the man." He was
the same person who was born blind but could now see. "How could this be?" they asked. "The
man called Jesus made mud, spread it on my eyes," the man told his neighbors, "Then I went and
washed and received my sight." They asked about the man who made the mud, wanting to know
who he was and where they could find him. The man with new sight answered, "I do not know."
Prayer: Loving God, help me to see you more clearly each day. Amen.
