Spare your people, O LORD. (Joel 2:17 NRSV)

The weeping in our scripture reading is about confession and asking for forgiveness. In verse 17, it says, "Between the vestibule and the alter let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep. Let them say, 'Spare your people, O Lord, and do not make your heritage a mockery.'"

It is important for us, in these days after Easter, to confess and ask for God's forgiveness, so that we will can celebrate the hope found in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, forgive me and give me the full hope found in your resurrection. Amen.
