Jesus began to weep.
(John 11:35
NRSV)
Former Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara was not known to be an
emotional man, but when he was dedicating the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy he broke
down in tears. He was in the middle of giving a speech in which he linked the
mission of this aircraft carrier with the inspiration President John F. Kennedy, his
friend, had been for him. He literally could not finish the speech, because he was so
overcome by his emotions.
Who is not vulnerable to tears when it comes to someone we love? Especially when
we lose someone special? It is all right to weep.

When Jesus learned about the death of Lazarus, John tells us in 11:34 & 35, "Jesus
began to weep. So the Jews said, 'See how he loved him!'" Jesus wept over a love
one, and it is all right for us to do the same.
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for giving me the ability to show my emotions. Amen.
