The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and save me for his heavenly
kingdom.
(2 Timothy 4:18
NRSV)
Her grief worsened by the sudden death of her husband. The only thing she had left was her faith,
and it was weakening.
One day when she was looking for work, she stopped to watch some workers doing the
stonework on a church. One of the workers was skillfully chiseling a triangular piece of rock. Not
seeing the spot where it would fit, she asked, "Where are you going to put that?" The worker
pointed toward the top of the church, and said, "See that little opening up there near the top?
That is where it goes. I'm shaping it down here so it will fit up there."
Suddenly God had spoken through that worker. She discovered what she must do with her
remaining days on earth. She needed to shape her life here for the life to come with God up there.
We need to do the same by shaping our lives now for the life to come in God's presence.

I remember a story I read about a woman who had lost her job in the great depression. Her and
her husband's savings were quickly gone. They soon lost their dream home.
Prayer: Dear God, may I do all I can to shape my life now for the one to come. Amen.
