For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth
and so is saved.
(Romans 10:10
NRSV)
Finally, after years of listening to these jazz musicians complain about his piano, the owner of the
club decided to do something about it. He had the piano painted.
Do you think painting the piano made a difference to the musicians who played it?
Some people keep coming to church because they trust that Christ has changed my life and will
change their lives. There are also some people who simply nod their heads in agreement, but never
allow the gospel to penetrate their lives. They are satisfied to simply paint the old piano.
Ronald Newhouse, Texas, USA
Once there was a small jazz club in New Orleans. In a corner of that club sat an old dilapidated
piano. All of the jazz artists complained about this antiquated instrument. The piano players
dreaded playing on it. The vocalists dreaded singing with it. And all of the combos that played the
club wished that they could bring in their own piano--just like they could a saxophone or a
trumpet.
Prayer: God of changed hearts, may my walk with you be one of trust that you will
continue to make real changes in my life. Amen.
