Therefore I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and
calamities for the sake of Christ; for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.
"Captain's compliments," said one of the officers. "Read that before you decide if you really want
to be rescued."
Yes, our world is sometimes a bad place to live. God doesn't promise to prevent us from
experiencing the bad things of life. God does promise, however, to help us endure life's hardships,
so that we can find true happiness in Christ.

(2 Corinthians
12:10
NRSV)
A shipwrecked sailor who had been alone on a tiny island for months was elated when he saw a
ship approaching. He watch with delight as a rowboat was lowered from the ship and began to
make its way to shore. When the small boat arrived on shore, two officers from the boat tossed
the sailor a newspaper.
Prayer: God of peace, help me endure my hardships with your loving peace. Amen.
