Giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the inheritance of the

A four-year old girl was gazing intently at her great-grandmother one day. At last she asked,
"Granny, are you a lot older than my mother?"
"Yes, dear," granny replied.
Nodding her head, the girl said, "I thought so. Her skin sure fits her better than yours."
When we share God's light, we fit better with God.

Jesus called us "the light of the world." "You are the light of the world," Jesus told his followers.
"A city built on a hill cannot be hid." Again, Jesus was complimenting his followers. A city built
on a hill is seen for miles in all directions. Jesus was instructing his followers to allow their light to
shine in a dark world. A light hid under a bushel basket isn't seen by anyone and serves no real
purpose. Such a light would burn itself out without anyone even noticing it. Jesus said, "No one,
after lighting a lamp, puts it under the bushel basket, but on a lamp stand." In other words, what
we do in the name of Jesus ought to be visible to other people living in our community and world
and not hidden where no one sees it.
Prayer: Dear God, may I do something special today to share your light. Amen.
