Forgive, and you will be forgiven. (Luke 6:37
NRSV)
A baseball fan, with popcorn in hand, was returning to his seat. He stopped and asked the woman
at the end of the aisle, "Did I step on your feet when I went out?"
The woman smiled, ready to accept his apology, and said, "Yes sir, you did step on my feet on
your way out."
"Good," the man said as he squeezed past her. "Then this is the right row!"
It is always our hope that when we've been wronged we will receive an apology. It doesn't
always happen does it? I would venture to say we receive apologies a lot less than 50% of the
time.
What do to? Let it go and forgive them anyway! It is even fun to say it out loud to yourself, "I
forgive you!"
Then Peter came and said to him, "Lord, if another member of the church sins against me, how
often should I forgive? As many as seven times?"
Jesus said to him, "Not seven times, but, I tell you, seventy-seven times.
Prayer: Loving God, forgive my trespasses, as I forgive those who trespass against me.
Amen.
