How does God's love abide in anyone who has the world's goods and sees a
brother or sister in need and yet refuses help? (1 John 3:17
NRSV)
A woman ordered a plate of oysters in a seafood restaurant. She told the waiter, "I'd like them
not too salty, not too fat; and they must be icy cold." After a brief pause, she added, "And I want
them quickly,"
"Yes, ma'am," replied the waiter, "and would you like them with or without pearls."
It is so easy to focus on our own needs and wants that we often ignore the needs of others.
But Jesus lived and taught another way. He said, "Whoever wants to be first must be the last of all
and servant of all."
May we look through the eyes of Christ today.
Prayer: Loving God, help me to see the needs of others. Amen.
